Promising 2018 Start for Lethbridge Real Estate
Lethbridge real estate has shown higher than normal sales in the last couple of months, which bodes well for a successful 2018.
Typically, winter is a slow time for real estate as people aren’t as inclined to move and prefer to wait until spring, but December 2017 and January 2018 broke the mold. The Lethbridge market is at a high point, so why wait until spring to list or start the search for your new home?
Home sales in Lethbridge rose 22.5% from 130 in December 2016 to 158 in December 2017. This is a tie for most homes sold in Lethbridge in the month of December, the record high first being made in 1993, according to the Canadian Real Estate Association.
The CREA December report states that, “new listings for all types of properties in Lethbridge totalled 194 units in December 2017, rising 14.1% from December 2016. New residential listings on the Association’s MLS® System numbered 176 units, rising 14.3% from December 2016.”
The upwards trend continued into the new year with a 25% increase in homes sold, jumping from 104 during January 2017 to 130 in January 2018.
Homebuyers aren’t waiting until spring to purchase, so make sure you get a jump on the market if you’re planning to sell this year and list early.
